JOSEPHINE
How do you support a young child struggling to cope with the aftermath of a deeply traumatic incident? That’s the question at the heart of this powerful and thought-provoking drama starring Channing Tatum and Gemma Chan.
A peaceful father-daughter outing to play football in the park is shattered when eight-year-old Josephine (superbly played by Mason Reeves) witnesses a horrific sexual assault. As Josephine struggles to articulate what she has experienced, those around her find it equally difficult to cope with the aftermath of what has taken place. Winner of the Grand Jury Dramatic Prize at this year’s Sundance Festival, Josephine is a complex exploration of the pervading horror of violence in everyday life.
‘The standout of this year’s Sundance Film Festival competition, in terms of both audacity of subject and maturity of execution’. – Peter Debruge, Variety
