Showing in Days of Wonder

Days of Wonder is a three-year project exploring the heritage of film and media in Brighton & Hove.

Curated and produced by Corridor and videoclub in partnership with Brighton & Hove Museums and Screen Archive South East. With support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Arts Council England, and BFI/Film Hub South East.

This years festival features multiple events that celebrates St Ann’s Well Gardens in Hove, a very special place at the birth of British cinema as it was where pioneering film-makers George Albert Smith and Laura Bayley lived and worked around 1900. From playful one-shot scenes to ground-breaking experiments in combining shots, they were self-taught innovators whose work led to one of the most important milestones in early film history: the invention of film editing.

Step into a cinematic time machine with Play Back Forward – a playful and immersive exhibition celebrating Brighton & Hove’s early film pioneers. Blending archival film, creative works by local young people, and new commissions by artists Chahine Fellahi and Annis Joslin, the show reimagines the archive through the magic of light, shadow, and motion.
