Adam Driver, Miles Teller and Scarlett Johansson deliver impressive performances in a 1980s New York-set thriller that reveals the repercussions when two brothers strike a deal with Russian gangsters.

Irwin (Miles Teller) is a hard-working engineer with family responsibilities and limited finances. His charismatic sibling Gary (Adam Driver) is an ex-cop with fingers in many pies, who’s become embroiled with dubious Russian businessmen. This leads to a tempting proposition. There’s a major pay day on offer if Irwin prepares an engineering report for the Russians that will win them a major clean-up contract. It’s too good an offer to refuse, but events soon take a downward spiral.

Director James Gray (Ad Astra, We Own the Night, Little Odessa) confidently delivers a pulsating crime drama that’s reminiscent of American New Wave storytellers like Sidney Lumet.
