MINOTAUR

Russia 2022 – in the immediate outbreak of the invasion of Ukraine – is the setting for this hard-hitting political thriller.

The moral beliefs of a company director, Gleb, are severely compromised when he is forced to support his country’s war campaign by supplying conscripts from his own workforce. Life becomes even more complicated when Gleb suspects that his wife Galina is having an affair. Winner of the Grand Prix at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, Minotaur is a clever reworking of Claude Chabrol’s La Femme Infidèle. This thought-provoking depiction of power and corruption is the first film in almost a decade by exiled Russian director Andrey Zvyagintsev (The Return, Leviathan, Loveless).

‘A perfectly chilled portrait of a world that draws no distinction between crimes of passion and acts of totalitarian complicity.’ – Justin Chang, The New Yorker
