It Must Be Heaven

From award-winning director Elia Suleiman (Chronicle of a Disappearance, Divine Intervention), an absurdist comic saga exploring identity, nationality and belonging, in which he asks the fundamental question: where is the place we can truly call home? Suleiman himself plays the central character who escapes from Palestine seeking an alternative homeland, only to find that Palestine is trailing behind him. The promise of a new life turns into a comedy of errors: however far he travels, from Paris to New York, something always reminds him of home.

It Must Be Heaven received the Jury Special Mention and Critics’ Awards at this year’s Cannes and is Palestine’s entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards.
