15 February 2018
For the 10th year, CINECITY is proud to be working in partnership with Brighton Festival on this year’s film programme. 2018 guest director David Shrigley’s theme is STRIVING FOR EXCELLENCE.
To coincide with the 50th anniversary of May 68, we’ll be hosting a series of double bills at Duke of York’s, in which a classic of British cinema from 1968 is paired with a film from another era that shares its radical spirit. From Jean Cocteau’s THE BLOOD OF A POET from 1932 to Ben Wheatley’s A FIELD IN ENGLAND from 2013, the complementary films included in this series span over 80 years of film history.
Alongside these double bills, we’ll be bringing you UK premiere of A SHIT ODYSSEY, a feature length documentary following the process of creation from stage to page of the sort-of opera, Pass the Spoon, for which David Shrigley wrote the liberetto. Plus, our friends at Carousel present a collection of Oska Bright shorts, LOSE YOUR HEAD.
The full festival programme is now online. Members booking goes live at 7:30am tomorrow morning (16 February) and public booking at 9am on 23 February.
