Cinecity visit the Quays
Last week the Cinecity Team had the privilege of meeting the Quay
Brothers at their London studio, a stone's throw from London Bridge
Station.
Once we found it, the studio was a surprisingly inconspicuous first
floor loft, but nevertheless a sanctuary inside!
This is their creative headquarters - hidden amongst a primary school
playground, remnants of pre-war architecture that survived the blitz and
new designer flats. This is where they have shaped their ideas and made
their work for over 2 decades.
During the visit we discussed how the CINECITY exhibition will be
presented. It will be the first time their exhibition 'Dormitorium' and
installation 'Eurydice -She So Beloved' (commissioned by Capture and
Opera North) will be shown together in one gallery space.
They generously offered us a selection of Polish Film Posters by Roman
Ciesliewiz and Henryk Tomaszewski from their personal collection for
CINECITY - a very exciting addition!
Frank and Sara are looking forward to meeting them again at the festival
launch on 21st November.
Watch this space for more info on the Quay Brothers .
