His new project JOY DIVISION is an exploration of the iconic band and the city of Manchester which itself had a role in shaping their unique sound. Brighton's Lighthouse regularly holds an evening called Cineville, which brings together filmmakers and industry professionals to discuss issues and share ideas vital to getting films made and seen. Although traditionally considered a documentary director, Nick Broomfield's new film BATTLE FOR HADITHA, is a dramatic retelling of the events surrounding the Haditha killings and follows his previous dramatisation of real life tragedy, GHOSTS, which played as part of CINECITY 2006. We were happy to welcome Nick back to CINECITY and left him in the capable hands of film programmer Jason Wood for the post screening Q&A.

For this year’s first CINECITY Podcast, we kick things off with an interview with author and musician (and CINECITY patron) Nick Cave, who sat down with author and film programmer, Jason Wood, to talk about the process of composing the soundtrack of Andrew Dominik’s, THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD with his long-term collaborator Warren Ellis.
