CINECITY The Brighton Film Festival will launch on November 15th with a preview screening of LUST, CAUTION the latest feature from Ang Lee whose BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN won him the best director Oscar two years ago.
Set in war time Shanghai LUST, CAUTION is both an espionage thriller and tragic melodrama in which a pair of lovers are pitted against forces beyond their control, but unlike BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN the film takes a much darker view of love and romance. Based on a short story by Chinese author Eileen Chang, it stars Asian cinema icons Tony Leung and Joan Chen with newcomer Tang Wei in the pivotal role.
